Jaish-e-Mohammad Shifts Fundraising Methods Amid Growing International Scrutiny

New Delhi, October 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has altered its fundraising methods amid increasing scrutiny by Indian and international agencies, relying less on traditional donation networks and increasingly using digital payment platforms and cryptocurrency, according to intelligence officials.

The shift comes as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) holds its ongoing plenary meeting, bringing renewed attention to efforts to track terrorist financing.

An Intelligence Bureau official said the outfit had reduced its reliance on conventional fundraising through charities, public rallies, door-to-door collections and donations routed through hawala channels. Instead, it is reportedly accepting smaller amounts through more discreet transactions, with longer intervals between transfers to complicate efforts to trace the money trail.

The causes cited to solicit funds remain largely unchanged, including humanitarian assistance for Gaza and other crises, mosque construction and religious activities. However, officials said the fundraising is no longer conducted as openly as before.

Investigators have identified the use of Pakistani mobile payment services SadaPay and Easypaisa, while some digital wallets receiving funds are reportedly linked to Abdullah Azhar, son of JeM founder Masood Azhar. Officials also said the outfit had used the stablecoin USDT to move funds through channels allegedly associated with its operatives.

According to the officials, transfers are sometimes consolidated at intervals of five to 10 days, creating gaps that make it harder for investigators to follow transactions continuously. The outfit is also said to change the platforms it uses to receive and transfer money.

Another significant change concerns how the funds are reportedly used. Officials claim JeM is currently spending less on cadre training and operational activities, which they say are being handled through arrangements involving Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). A unified command centre has reportedly been established to coordinate operations involving JeM, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Intelligence officials further allege that money collected in the name of humanitarian aid is being used to establish mosques and religious centres across Pakistan that also serve as locations for indoctrination and training. The reported strategy aims to expand local access to young recruits while reducing the need for travel to dedicated training facilities.

Officials say the evolving methods have added to the challenges facing agencies tracking the group’s finances. The claims could not be independently verified from the information provided.
