Paris Hilton has paid tribute to pop star Britney Spears by recreating her iconic 2001 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) look, posing with a giant faux albino Burmese python draped around her shoulders and arms.
The socialite and media personality shared the picture on Instagram, striking a glamorous pose inside a pink archway while holding the artificial snake. Her caption read, “Oops… I #Slayed it again,” a playful reference to Spears’ hit song “Oops!… I Did It Again”.
Hilton’s photograph recalls one of the most memorable moments in VMAs history, when Spears performed “I’m a Slave 4 U” at the 2001 ceremony with a seven-foot python draped over her shoulders.
Released in 2001 as part of Spears’ third studio album, Britney, “I’m a Slave 4 U” marked a shift towards an R&B-influenced sound, moving away from the teen-pop style associated with her earlier releases. The performance remains one of the defining images of her career.
“Oops!… I Did It Again”, meanwhile, was the title track of Spears’ second studio album. The song earned a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2001. Its music video featured Spears in a red catsuit on Mars, interacting with an astronaut who falls in love with her.
Hilton first attracted widespread tabloid attention through New York’s social scene in the late 1990s before entering fashion modelling. She became a global celebrity through the reality series The Simple Life, in which she starred alongside Nicole Richie.
