Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Delhi, scheduled for October 30 as part of his ‘Aura India Tour’, has received police permission following a security review, the event organiser has confirmed.
BookMyShow Live clarified that reports claiming the concert had been cancelled were inaccurate. In a statement to IANS, the organiser said permission for the event had been temporarily withheld and that the development should not be mistaken for a cancellation.
The organiser explained that, given the festive season and the need for heightened security, Delhi Police had asked it to implement additional safety, traffic management and crowd-control measures.
BookMyShow Live said it subsequently held a cordial meeting with Delhi Police, presented a detailed plan and assured the authorities of full compliance with all security and traffic requirements. Following the review, permission for the concert was reconsidered and issued.
“We, with Delhi Police, are committed to ensuring a good experience for attendees as well as local commuters,” the statement said.
Earlier reports had suggested that Delhi Police had denied permission for Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium over security concerns. In an official letter dated October 21, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South District, had informed BookMyShow Live Private Limited that its request to organise the musical event could not be approved at that stage.
The letter cited specific threat-related inputs, along with security and law-and-order commitments during the ongoing festive season and other concerns, as reasons for withholding permission. However, it did not specify the nature of the threats.
The clearance follows the organiser’s discussions with the police and submission of additional safety arrangements, allowing preparations for the Delhi show to proceed.
The concert will mark the beginning of Dosanjh’s six-week ‘Aura India Tour’, which is scheduled to cover several cities across the country, including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow.
