The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has appointed Amargharh MLA Prof. Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra as the state president of its Intellectual Wing. The responsibility was assigned to him by AAP Punjab president Aman Arora.
According to the party, Gajjan Majra’s loyalty, reliability and efforts to implement its policies at the grassroots level were key considerations behind the appointment.
Expressing gratitude following his appointment, Prof. Gajjan Majra thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, state president Aman Arora and the entire party leadership for placing their trust in him.
He said the responsibility reflected the confidence the party had expressed in him and assured the leadership that he would work with honesty, dedication and accountability to live up to its expectations.
Gajjan Majra also praised the initiatives being undertaken under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership in the fields of education and public welfare. He emphasised the important role of intellectuals in promoting social progress and development.
He said the Intellectual Wing would focus on increasing the active participation of educationists, researchers and social welfare organisations in Punjab’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign.
According to him, the fight against drug abuse must go beyond law enforcement and be strengthened through social awareness and collective responsibility.
He emphasised that protecting young people from drug abuse and connecting them with education, skills and employment opportunities were essential for building a healthy and prosperous Punjab.
Gajjan Majra said the Intellectual Wing would work towards encouraging greater involvement from academic and intellectual communities in efforts to address drug abuse and contribute to the state’s social development.
