Pakistan’s men’s cricket team will wear specially designed pink kits during the fourth ODI against England at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on October 25 as part of a campaign to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage early diagnosis and timely treatment.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is organising the initiative under its corporate social responsibility programme, with the match designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The campaign coincides with Pinktober, observed internationally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The awareness drive will involve players from both teams, match officials, commentators and broadcasters. While Pakistan’s players will take the field in pink kits, members of the England team, match officials and commentators will be invited to wear pink ribbons in support of patients and survivors.
Gaddafi Stadium will also adopt a pink theme, with pink-branded stumps and awareness messages displayed on the venue’s big screens and LED perimeter boards. Commentators will highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness during the live broadcast, extending the campaign’s reach to audiences in Pakistan and abroad.
The PCB is also planning a digital outreach drive featuring specially recorded videos in which Pakistan players will encourage the public to learn about breast cancer and the importance of early diagnosis. Dedicated content will be shared through the board’s official social media channels ahead of the match.
Spectators will be able to take part in Pink Ribbon activities at the stadium, beginning two hours before play starts. The activities will focus on awareness, timely medical attention and support for people affected by the disease.
The PCB will also introduce limited-edition pink-themed merchandise, including travel polo shirts and fan shirts, through its official retail outlet and online platforms.
The initiative aims to use the reach of international cricket to promote breast cancer awareness, screening and access to timely treatment beyond the playing field.
