Chandigarh, October 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

AICC General Secretary and Congress in-charge of Punjab Sachin Pilot will undertake a five-day tour of the state from October 16 to meet families who have lost loved ones to gangster violence and incidents linked to the deteriorating law and order situation, the party said on Thursday.

During the visit, Pilot will travel to 11 districts — Moga, Bathinda, Mansa, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Amritsar.

According to the Congress, Pilot will visit the homes of bereaved families in each district, offer condolences and listen to their accounts of the crimes and the response they have received from the police and the state government.

The party said several killings had been claimed by or linked to organised gangs, while some families had allegedly waited months or even years for arrests, chargesheets or a fair trial. The visit, it added, aims to bring these families’ concerns into the public domain.

The Congress said it would raise the families’ demands for justice with the public and the state government and, where necessary, pursue the matter in courts.

Pilot is also expected to highlight what the party describes as a deterioration in Punjab’s law and order situation. The Congress has argued that the situation has undermined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s claim to continue in office.

The visit comes days after newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh assumed charge in Chandigarh on October 11, pledging to fight for the rights, dignity and future of the state’s people.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Pargat Singh said the strength of Punjab lay in its ordinary citizens, including farmers who feed the country, young people striving to secure their future, traders and business owners contributing to the state’s economy, and families seeking a safe and dignified life.

He said the Congress had a responsibility not only to contest elections but also to act as the voice of the people and stand firmly for their rights.

“The people of Punjab are waiting for their rights, justice and a secure future. It is our responsibility to meet the expectations of every section, from farmers to young people. The Congress is united, and our struggle is against a system that has failed to secure people’s rightful entitlements,” Pargat Singh had said.
