Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has urged a 40-member student delegation from Chandigarh to share its experiences of the state’s development with people back home during an educational exchange programme aimed at promoting cultural understanding and national integration.
The students, who are visiting Gujarat from October 10 to 16 under the Centre’s ‘Yuva Sangam’ programme, met Patel in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. The delegation is exploring Gujarat’s culture, industrial growth, technological advancements and government initiatives.
During the interaction, Patel encouraged the students to maintain a positive outlook and communicate their experiences of Gujarat’s development to people in their home state. He also highlighted the state’s development model under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting was attended by Hasmukh Adhia, Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, and Secretary Ajay Kumar.
Yuva Sangam is an initiative of the Department of Higher Education under the Union Ministry of Education and is part of the Centre’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme. It seeks to strengthen national unity by enabling young people from different states and Union Territories to experience one another’s cultures, traditions and development achievements.
The programme is structured around five themes — tourism, traditions, progress, people-to-people connect and technology. It provides students with opportunities to explore historical sites, understand local customs, visit industrial centres and learn about technological and developmental initiatives in other parts of the country.
Gujarat Central University is hosting the Chandigarh delegation and facilitating its exposure to the state’s historical and tourist destinations, cultural traditions, industrial development and government programmes.
As part of the reciprocal exchange, a 50-member delegation of students from Gujarat will visit Punjab from October 22 to 29. The students were selected through a prescribed process from approximately 5,000 applications received for the programme.
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, will serve as the nodal institution for the Gujarat delegation’s visit to Punjab.
The exchange is intended to foster lasting relationships among students from different regions and encourage greater understanding of the country’s cultural diversity, development experiences and the role of technology and innovation across sectors.
