Patna, October 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The broad-daylight murder of retired Customs officer Ramkumar Singh in Bihar’s Ara has triggered protests, with his family alleging that a long-running land dispute may have led to the killing and raising questions over the handling of complaints and land records by officials.

Singh, who was the Bihar state president of the Kshatriya Kalyan Sangathan, was shot dead on Thursday in the Kanakpuri locality near Jain College, within the jurisdiction of Nawada police station in Bhojpur district.

According to the available account, Singh was out walking with his son when motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on him. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and collapsed at the spot. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting.

The killing prompted a gathering of local residents, who staged a protest and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.

Singh’s wife, Sushila Devi, alleged that the murder was linked to a dispute over a 14-kattha plot of land. She claimed the family had received repeated threats after a boundary wall on the disputed property was demolished.

She further alleged that when the family approached Mufassil police station to submit a written complaint, the then station house officer, Ram Kalyan Yadav, refused to accept it.

Sushila Devi also accused Ankita Singh, Circle Officer of RK Anchal, of manipulating land records and facilitating the preparation of forged documents in exchange for money. These allegations have not been independently established.

Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit visited the crime scene and reviewed the situation. He said the family had identified the land dispute as a possible motive and confirmed that police were investigating all aspects of the case.

On the allegation that the family’s earlier complaint was not accepted, Dixit said further action would depend on the formal complaint and the findings of the investigation. He assured that efforts were underway to identify and arrest the assailants.

The motive behind the murder, the identity of the attackers and the allegations concerning the land dispute and official conduct remain under investigation.
