Bollywood actress Sharvari has opened up about filming the song ‘Jhumka Patola’ for her upcoming film ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’, saying director Sooraj R. Barjatya’s approach helped her explore her passion for dance in a new way.
The actress said Barjatya treats songs as an integral part of the narrative, with every movement and expression connected to the story and the character’s emotions. His musical sequences have been a defining feature of Hindi cinema, particularly during the 1990s.
Speaking about her experience, Sharvari said, “I’ve always loved dancing, but with Sooraj sir, a song is so deeply woven into the narrative that you can’t look at it as just a dance performance. While shooting ‘Jhumka Patola’, he would walk me through what the moment meant for my character and share stories from the songs he has made over the years, and I tried to carry that into every step and expression.”
Sharvari has made a mark with her energetic dance performances in Bollywood, particularly through songs such as ‘Taras’ from ‘Munjya’ and ‘Holiyaan’ from ‘Vedaa’.
In ‘Taras’, her first major solo dance number, the actress showcased her screen presence, confident moves and ability to carry a vibrant, contemporary Bollywood track. The song also drew attention for its catchy beats and her performance.
Reflecting on the role of music in storytelling, Sharvari said songs could communicate emotions and ideas that a conventional scene might not always convey. She noted that memorable songs often become closely associated with the characters and moments audiences carry with them over the years.
“Dance has its own language, and sometimes a song can say what a scene simply cannot. There’s a reason certain songs stay with us for years, they become inseparable from the characters and moments we remember. ‘Jhumka Patola’ let me explore my love for dance in a way I hadn’t before, and after the warmth the title track ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ has received, I can’t wait for audiences to experience it,” she said.
‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on November 27, 2026.
