Bareilly, October 9, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

All India Muslim Jamaat National President Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi on Friday appealed to Muslim youths to stay away from the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday, saying that some members of the community who participated in the previous agitation had faced “considerable difficulties”.

The CJP is scheduled to hold the protest to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Speaking to IANS, the Muslim cleric said that peaceful demonstrations were a legal right but stressed that violence should not be permitted.

“Staging a demonstration is every person’s right; it is our legal right. However, no one can be allowed to resort to violence. I want to appeal to all Muslim youths living in Delhi or in the districts of Uttar Pradesh to stay away from the Cockroach Janta Party’s upcoming sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and not participate in it under any circumstances,” he said.

Razvi said violent incidents had occurred during recent CJP protests and cautioned that members of the Muslim community could face difficulties if they participated in the agitation.

“Muslims are a vulnerable section of society, and some of them who participated in that protest had to face considerable difficulties later. Based on this experience, I am urging Muslims not to take part in the protest and instead carry on with their work and studies. It is for their own benefit,” he said.

The cleric was referring to the CJP’s previous agitation, which, according to the report, led to the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been intensified in the national capital ahead of Saturday’s proposed demonstration, with more than 23,000 security personnel likely to be deployed.

The Delhi Police had earlier said that permission for the protest was denied because the organisers allegedly failed to comply with legal directions and undertakings given during an earlier demonstration. The police also sought the closure of 57 Metro stations.

Following the police proposal, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Friday that entry and exit at 57 Metro stations would remain closed from 9 p.m. until further orders in view of the agitation.

However, the Supreme Court directed that Metro train services should not be completely stopped ahead of the proposed protest. It also asked the Centre to ensure that Metro and other railway services operate in a suitably regulated manner to minimise inconvenience to the public.
