Newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh will formally assume charge at Punjab Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh on Sunday, October 11, at 10 am.
Arrangements for the ceremony have been completed, and senior Congress leaders, Members of Parliament, MLAs, former ministers, district Congress presidents and other party office-bearers have been invited to attend.
Ahead of taking charge, Pargat Singh paid obeisance at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi and Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, where he offered prayers for the welfare and prosperity of Punjab and its people.
During his return to Punjab, party workers and local Congress leaders welcomed him at various places.
Pargat Singh Calls for Unity Among Congress Workers
In a message to the party cadre ahead of Sunday’s ceremony, Pargat Singh appealed for unity and urged Congress leaders and workers to set aside internal differences in the larger interest of strengthening the organisation.
Describing grassroots workers as the Congress party’s real strength, he emphasised the importance of building direct connections with people across Punjab.
He called upon party workers to reach out to households, understand public concerns and communicate Congress policies and programmes effectively.
Strengthening Party Organisation a Key Priority
Pargat Singh said strengthening the Congress organisation at the grassroots level would be among his foremost priorities as PPCC president.
He also underlined the need to raise issues affecting Punjab’s development and public welfare while ensuring that the party remained connected with the aspirations and concerns of ordinary people.
The formal assumption of charge on Sunday will mark the beginning of Pargat Singh’s organisational leadership of the Punjab Congress as the party prepares for its forthcoming political challenges.
