The portraits of Justice Kuldeep Singh Patwalia, Dal Khalsa leader Bhai Gajinder Singh and Shaheed Bhai Gurdev Singh Debu were installed at the Central Sikh Museum within the Sri Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar on Saturday, in recognition of their contributions to Sikh causes and the community.

The unveiling ceremony was performed after Ardas by Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib; Giani Tek Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib; SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami; and Giani Baljit Singh, Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.

Addressing the gathering, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said the three personalities had made significant contributions to the community’s struggle for its rights.

He said Justice Kuldeep Singh had raised his voice for truth, justice and human rights and played an important role in addressing alleged atrocities against Sikh youth. Bhai Gajinder Singh, he said, remained committed to Sikh principles despite spending a long period in exile, while Shaheed Bhai Gurdev Singh Debu endured government repression and sacrificed his life, adding to the legacy of Sikh history.

Giani Gargajj said the lives of the three personalities would continue to inspire the Sikh sangat.

SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the installation of portraits at the Central Sikh Museum was a way for the Sikh institution to honour those who had made sacrifices and contributions for the community.

Dhami highlighted Justice Kuldeep Singh’s judicial decisions concerning Punjab and human rights issues. He also referred to his role as chairman of the Delimitation Commission, saying that the names of Punjab’s Assembly and parliamentary constituencies were designated after places associated with the visits of Sikh Gurus.

He said Bhai Gajinder Singh and Bhai Gurdev Singh had maintained their commitment to Sikh principles despite difficult circumstances. Their lives, he added, offered lessons in faith, determination and dedication to the community.

During the programme, a message sent by Bibi Bikramjit Kaur, daughter of Bhai Gajinder Singh who lives abroad, was shared with the congregation by Bibi Jaspreet Kaur.

Family members of the three personalities and other prominent attendees were honoured at the event. Earlier, the Hazuri Ragi Jatha of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan, while Bhai Prem Singh conducted the Ardas.

Those present included SGPC secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, OSD Satbir Singh, deputy secretary Harbhajan Singh Vakta, Sri Darbar Sahib general manager Major Singh, manager Rajinder Singh Ruby Attari, and other SGPC officials and religious representatives.

Family members of the honoured personalities, representatives of Dal Khalsa, former SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh, and several other prominent figures also attended the ceremony.
