Hyderabad, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy for questioning on October 14 in connection with its probe into alleged financial transactions linked to the 2019 murder of his uncle and former Andhra Pradesh minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.

Avinash Reddy, who has been named as an accused in the murder case, is the cousin of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The ED’s money-laundering investigation is focused on the alleged financial trail surrounding the murder. The agency has already questioned several accused, including Yerra Gangi Reddy, Yadati Sunil Yadav, Uma Shankar Reddy and Shaik Dastagiri, who later turned approver in the case.

Gangi Reddy appeared before ED officials in Hyderabad on September 28 and 29, while Sunil Yadav was also questioned as part of the probe. The agency is examining financial transactions and alleged payments connected with the murder conspiracy.

The investigation includes the CBI’s allegation of a purported Rs 40 crore contract linked to the killing, as well as the alleged transfer of Rs 4 crore and payment of Rs 1 crore as an advance to Dastagiri.

The ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in August 2025 based on the CBI case and its charge sheets. In August this year, the agency conducted searches at seven locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED said it seized documents and digital devices, along with unaccounted cash of Rs 24 lakh and two locker keys from premises linked to Avinash Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy, the younger brother of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, shortly before the state elections.

The Central Bureau of Investigation took over the probe in 2020 following directions from the Andhra Pradesh High Court. It subsequently filed a charge sheet and supplementary charge sheets and arrested several accused, including Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy.

The ED’s summons to Avinash Reddy is part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged financial trail. The issuance of a summons or questioning by an investigating agency does not by itself establish guilt.
