India’s left-arm spinner Sree Charani has created history by becoming the first Indian bowler to cross the 800-point mark in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings following the latest update on Tuesday.
Charani’s landmark achievement comes after her outstanding performance in the Asia Cup 2026 final against Sri Lanka, where she returned figures of 4/20. She finished the tournament with 12 wickets, playing a key role in India’s title triumph.
The strong campaign has lifted Charani’s rating to 804 points, further strengthening her position at the top of the T20I bowlers’ rankings.
She is only the third bowler overall to breach the 800-point mark in the rankings. Australia pacer Megan Schutt holds the record for the highest-ever rating by a women’s T20I bowler, having reached 806 points, while former No. 1 Sophie Ecclestone had earlier touched 802.
Charani, who also broke Poonam Yadav’s record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler in a calendar year, now has the opportunity to surpass Schutt’s all-time rating record.
Meanwhile, India all-rounder Deepti Sharma has moved four places up to No. 2 in the T20I bowlers’ rankings. Deepti claimed 3/19 in the Asia Cup final and finished the tournament as its leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps.
Deepti now has 729 rating points, although she remains well behind Charani at the top.
India’s record-extending eighth Asia Cup title also brought gains for Shafali Verma. The opener moved up one place to No. 6 in the T20I batters’ rankings after her match-winning 68 in the final.
Shafali also climbed five places in the T20I all-rounders’ rankings to reach No. 15.
