Punjab Police conducted 583 raids across the state on Tuesday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 238th day, arresting 264 individuals and recovering nine weapons from them.
The special drive, aimed at making Punjab free of gangster activity, was launched by Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) at identified and mapped locations linked to gangsters and their associates.
With the latest arrests, the total number of individuals arrested under the campaign has reached 70,954.
Police also took preventive action against 162 individuals during Tuesday’s operations and arrested seven Proclaimed Offenders (POs).
The Punjab Police has urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters, crime and other criminal activities. Such information can be provided anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 563rd day.
During the day, police arrested 94 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 9.8 kg of heroin, 5 kg of opium, 9 kg of poppy husk, 313 intoxicant tablets and Rs 6,720 in drug money from their possession.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested since the launch of the 563-day campaign has now reached 77,903.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 14 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday.
