Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated Engineers’ Day by highlighting its focus on preparing students to address real-world challenges, gain industry exposure and build careers contributing to India’s technological and industrial growth.
As LPU completes 25 years and enters its Silver Jubilee Year, the university said its engineering education ecosystem continues to combine classroom learning with practical projects, research, industry exposure and career opportunities.
Students gain hands-on experience through live and field projects, experiential learning laboratories, Centres of Excellence, industry mentorship, internships, consultancy and innovation-driven initiatives.
With engineering becoming increasingly integrated with artificial intelligence, LPU also combines core engineering education with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data-driven systems. The approach is aimed at enabling students to apply these technologies across disciplines to address practical engineering challenges.
The university is also encouraging students to develop ideas that can evolve into products, ventures and solutions to real-world problems. Its live project ecosystem includes student-built projects such as a solar-powered car, an aerodynamic human-powered vehicle and the Flying Farmer, a wireless sensor-based device designed for agricultural and forest surveys.
According to LPU’s Education Revolution platform, more than 450 student-led start-ups have been established, while students have earned over Rs 25 crore through entrepreneurship, live projects, consultancy and internships.
Among the university’s highlighted alumni achievements is Anirudh Sharma, a B.Tech CSE graduate and co-founder of space technology company Digantara. The company has raised $12.5 million and developed satellite-based space surveillance capabilities.
LPU also highlighted the placement outcomes of its engineering students. The School of Computer Science and Engineering currently reports a highest package of Rs 64 lakh, while the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering reports a highest package of Rs 2.5 crore. Students have secured placements with companies including Qualcomm, Intel, Infineon, Cadence, Bosch and Silicon Labs.
As Engineers’ Day recognises the contribution of engineers, LPU said its approach reflects the growing importance of application-based learning, industry exposure, innovation and career outcomes in shaping the engineers of the future.
