South Delhi Superstarz produced a commanding performance with both bat and ball to defeat East Delhi Riders by 71 runs in the Women’s Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
The Superstarz were led by a spectacular century from opener Priya Punia, who smashed 117 off 66 deliveries, including 13 fours and six sixes. Her innings was only the second century in Women’s DPL history and the highest individual score recorded in the competition.
Punia set the tone from the outset, taking on the East Delhi attack and finding boundaries at regular intervals. Her aggressive strokeplay kept the scoring rate high and allowed South Delhi to build a formidable total.
