Ludhiana, September 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Advisor for Culture and Tourism Deepak Bali have invited Ludhiana residents to attend four free shows of the play ‘Hamare Ram’, which will be staged at the Dr Manmohan Singh Auditorium of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on September 25 and 26.

Renowned actor Ashutosh Rana will play the role of Ravana in the production. Two shows will be held each day, at 2 pm and 6 pm.

Mundian appealed to people across Ludhiana to attend the shows, highlighting the participation of renowned artistes and the live presentation based on the life and story of Lord Shri Ram.

Giving details of the production, Bali said Punjab had a significant place in the Sanatan tradition and described the Ramayana as a source of values and guidance for life.

He said the Punjab government had earlier organised events commemorating the 350th year of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib and the 650th year of Guru Ravidas Ji, besides programmes dedicated to Lord Shiva, and was now presenting ‘Hamare Ram’.

According to Bali, the production presents the Ramayana through four major sections — Aranya Kand, Luv-Kush Kand, Sundar Kand and Yudh Kand. He said the play depicts themes including a son’s duty towards his father, the 14-year exile of Lord Ram and significant encounters involving Ram, Luv-Kush, Maharaj Dashrath, Ravana and Lakshman.

Bali said 41 shows of ‘Hamare Ram’ had already been organised at different locations across Punjab, beginning with the first show in Mohali.

He said Ashutosh Rana, described by him as a prominent theatre artiste and writer, plays Ravana, while Rahul K. Bhuchar portrays Lord Ram.

Bali said the production is being offered free of cost in Ludhiana, with the Punjab government bearing the expenditure. He claimed that tickets for the play cost up to Rs 10,000 per person in other parts of India.

He said free passes are available through constituency MLAs, district presidents, Traders Commission office-bearers, Sanatan Seva Samiti office-bearers, the district administration and BookMyShow.

Bali also said the play had earlier been watched by Arvind Kejriwal, who, according to Bali, expressed a desire for people across Punjab to watch the production.

He appealed to journalists, government officers, MLAs and ministers to attend the shows with their families, including parents, elders and children.

MLA Chaudhary Madan Lal Bagga, MLA Pappi Parashar, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner and other officials were also present. Bali thanked Vijay Kumar Sharma, National President of Sanatan Seva Samiti, as well as Varun, Rupinder and other members of the organisation for their support.
