Veteran actor Anupam Kher took a nostalgic trip down memory lane on Monday, sharing a rare throwback photograph from when he was 18 and reflecting on the dreams and struggles that shaped his journey in the film industry.
Kher shared the black-and-white photograph on Instagram, introducing his younger self as “Bittu” and crediting him for having the courage to dream beyond his circumstances.
“Bittu- The Big Dreamer! Sometimes it is important to Thank your younger self for dreaming big! I was 18 when this picture was taken. This young boy from Shimla, Bittu had very little, but he had enormous dreams,” the actor wrote.
The 71-year-old actor, who recently starred in Tanvi The Great, acknowledged that turning those dreams into reality required years of hard work, courage and perseverance through failures.
“Of course, life demanded hard work, courage and many failures along the way. But none of it would have begun if Bittu had not dared to dream. Thank you, Bittu, for dreaming so big,” he added.
Kher further reflected on the role his younger self’s belief played in his eventual success.
“I am where I am today because you believed I could be. Bittu ki Jai Ho!” he wrote, adding the hashtags #DreamBig and #Gratitude.
In the photograph, the young Kher is seen wearing a crisp white shirt with a black blazer, posing confidently for the camera. Text accompanying the image also reflected on his journey from Shimla and the dreams he carried as a young man.
