Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a message of pride, belonging and love for the country, saying he feels privileged to be an Indian.
The actor shared an AI-tagged image of himself dressed in a white Pathani suit on Instagram on Saturday and accompanied it with a heartfelt Independence Day message.
“There’s something special about being Indian… the colours, the contrasts, the beautiful differences, the spirit and above all, the feeling of belonging to something much bigger than ourselves… our Country,” Shah Rukh wrote.
He urged citizens to value the country’s diversity and contribute in their own way towards making India proud.
“May we always value what we have and do our little bit to make our country proud. Proud to be an Indian and love being one. Jai Hind,” he added.
Shah Rukh has often spoken about his father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, whom he has described as one of India’s youngest freedom fighters. Born in Peshawar, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan was associated with the Indian National Congress and participated in the freedom movement. He was also involved in social and political activities in Peshawar before Partition. The family later moved to Delhi.
