Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged citizens to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and mark Independence Day with pride while paying tribute to the freedom fighters who shaped the country’s history.
Sharing a reel on Instagram, Modi called upon people to celebrate August 15 by displaying the national flag and reaffirming their commitment to building a Viksit Bharat.
“Celebrate August 15 with pride, pay tribute to freedom fighters, take a pledge for Viskit Bharat. Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga, Har Man Tiranga,” the Prime Minister said.
“Come, let’s make Har Ghar Tiranga a celebration in every home,” he added in the caption.
The appeal comes as India prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day. Earlier this week, Modi described the Tricolour as a symbol of national pride and a source of inspiration, urging citizens to participate enthusiastically in the campaign.
“Our Tricolour is our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation,” he had said in a post on X.
He also highlighted Vande Mataram as the theme of this year’s campaign, noting that the country is marking the 150th anniversary of the national song.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and hoist it during Independence Day celebrations.
The initiative seeks to deepen the personal connection between citizens and the national flag, moving beyond its traditional association with formal and institutional occasions. It also aims to reinforce national unity and a collective commitment to nation-building.
This year, Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 is dedicated to the spirit of 150 years of Vande Mataram, celebrating patriotism, pride in the Tricolour and the sentiment of love for the motherland reflected in the National Song.
