Composer Mithoon has unveiled a new version of his popular song Tera Mera Rishta from Awarapan, nearly two decades after the original track became a favourite among music lovers.
Titled Tera Mera Rishta Continues, the new rendition retains the emotional essence of the original while introducing fresh lyrics and voices. The song has received a strong response from listeners, prompting Mithoon to describe the new version as an “answer from the Almighty”.
Expressing his gratitude to fans of Awarapan, Mithoon said the original song represented Shivam’s emotional plea to the Almighty, while the new rendition serves as a response that urges the character to rise again and fight evil.
The composer said director-producer Vishesh Bhatt wanted new lyrics carrying prophetic significance for the sequel. Mithoon felt lyricist Sayeed Quadri was the ideal choice, given his contribution to the original song alongside Pritam and Mustafa Zahid.
The new version also introduces singers Saaj Bhatt and Subodh Sharma. Mithoon said he chose fresh voices to bring a new dimension to the composition while preserving the purity and emotional character of the original.
The composer added that adapting to changing circumstances had allowed him to approach the song differently while ensuring that its core musical identity remained intact.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles.
The new rendition seeks to carry forward the musical legacy of Awarapan while reflecting the next chapter in Shivam’s story.
