Several civilians, including two 14-year-old students, have allegedly been forcibly disappeared in separate incidents in Karachi and Balochistan, amid continuing reports of violence against civilians in different parts of Pakistan, according to a media report citing sources.
The Balochistan Post reported that three recent cases were recorded in Tikri, in Karachi’s Mauripur area. Sources said 28-year-old labourer Sabir was allegedly taken away by Pakistan Rangers from a road near his home at around 8:30 p.m. on August 6. His whereabouts remain unknown.
In another case, 30-year-old Abdul Aziz was allegedly detained by Rangers from his home at around 2 a.m. the following day. A 28-year-old shopkeeper, identified as Aamir, was reportedly taken away by Rangers and Counter Terrorism Department personnel around 8 p.m. on August 5.
According to the report, the families of all three men have not received information about their whereabouts since their alleged detention.
Family sources also claimed that two 14-year-old students were detained by personnel of the CTD and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) from Sariab Road in Quetta at around 5 a.m. on July 24. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
In another case, family members of Mansoor Anwar alleged that he was called out of his home and detained by Pakistani security personnel at around 3 a.m. on August 4 in Kaur-e-Pusht, Balochistan’s Buleda. The family said Anwar had previously been allegedly forcibly disappeared in November 2023 and was recovered nearly two months later in January 2024.
Meanwhile, Baloch activists and human rights groups have condemned the alleged killing of Baloch civilian Inayatullah Jattak in Khuzdar district.
According to Baloch Voice for Justice, Jattak was allegedly shot dead on Tuesday, hours after his daughter Asma Jattak publicly appealed for protection, saying that she and her family faced serious threats.
In a video statement shared by the organisation on X, Asma alleged that Zahoor Jamalzai and members of his group had threatened to kill her father and brothers.
