Veteran actress Simi Garewal revisited memories of her 1971 film Seema while wishing filmmaker and actor Rakesh Roshan on his birthday on Sunday.
Sharing the film’s poster on Instagram with a birthday song playing in the background, Garewal recalled that Seema was the film that brought the two together. She described Roshan, whom she affectionately called “Guddu”, as her “real life hero” and said he remained her dearest friend even 55 years later.
“Remember! This film brought us together..and 55 years on you remain my dearest friend. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Guddu! My real life hero!!” she wrote.
Roshan responded to the birthday wish in the comments, thanking Garewal for her affection and greetings.
Directed by Surendra Mohan and produced by Sohanlal Kanwar, Seema did not make a major impact at the box office but is remembered for its music composed by the duo Shankar-Jaikishan.
Among the film’s popular songs is Jab Bhi Yeh Dil Udaas Hota Hai, sung by Sharda Rajan Iyengar and Mohammed Rafi, with lyrics by Gulzar.
The film featured Kabir Bedi, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Padma Khanna, Chand Usmani, Abhi Bhattacharya, Gopal Sehgal, Kanchan Mattu and Sulochana in key roles.
Roshan began his acting career in 1970 with Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani and subsequently appeared in films including Khubsoorat, Khel Khel Mein, Kaamchor and Khoon Bhari Maang.
He later turned to filmmaking and directed several successful movies, including King Uncle, Karan Arjun, Koyla, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Koi… Mil Gaya and Krrish.
