Comedian Munawar Faruqui has opened up about his approach to strategy and manipulation, saying he may be strategic in life and professionally, but does not manipulate people with the intention of harming them.
Speaking to IANS alongside Karan Singh, Harman Singha and Soundous Mouafakir, Munawar discussed his experience on the streaming reality show The Traitors and said he did not enter the show with a fixed strategy.
“I’m very strategic in my life and in professional life as well. But, in both the reality shows that I have won, I have never relied on strategy,” he said.
Munawar explained that while he adopts a strategic approach during tasks, he does not manipulate people solely for his own advantage.
“If there’s a task in a show then I’m very strategic about it but I don’t manipulate people for my benefit. I manipulate them so that they also have their own interest,” he said.
Describing his approach, he added, “I’m like an agent, if I’m manipulating someone then the other person also has 20% benefit rather than it benefitting me 100%. I don’t want to hurt people.”
Munawar said his approach on The Traitors was straightforward: protect himself if he was a Traitor and identify the hidden Traitors if he was not one.
The second season of The Traitors featured 21 contestants from entertainment, television, social media, food and other fields, including Mallika Sherawat, Shweta Tiwari, Rhea Chakraborty, Abhishek Malhan, Shalini Passi, Ranveer Brar and Munawar.
Built around trust, deception and strategic alliances, the show requires contestants to identify the hidden Traitors while attempting to avoid elimination themselves. The latest season featured confrontations, surprise eliminations and shifting alliances.
Krystle D’Souza and Rida Tharana emerged as the winners of the second season.
