Sharon Stone Says Lack of Sex Education Contributed to Her Teenage Pregnancy

Los Angeles, October 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has said that a lack of sex education and awareness about contraception contributed to her teenage pregnancy, recalling how little information she received about reproductive health while growing up.

Speaking on Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson’s IMO podcast, the 68-year-old actress described the limited conversation about sex she had with her mother and said neither she nor her boyfriend understood the importance of birth control.

“‘Is that man bothering you? Get over here.’ That was the whole extent of the conversation,” Stone recalled, describing the sex education she received from her mother.

She was 17 and attending college at the time, while her boyfriend was 23 and working as an electrician for the railroad. Stone said he had a well-paying job, a car, a motorcycle and his own home, but neither of them had the necessary knowledge about contraception.

“He didn’t have any knowledge or information that I should have some kind of birth control and I had no idea,” she said, adding that she could have been among those who give birth without anyone around them realising they are pregnant.

Stone had previously spoken about having an abortion when she was younger. She recalled that her pregnancy came to light after she gained weight, prompting her boyfriend to recognise that something was different. Her parents had reportedly assumed the weight gain was part of the “freshman 15” often associated with the first year of college.

The actress also criticised what she described as gaps in women’s reproductive healthcare and research, questioning why women continue to face barriers to care.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Stone and Michelle Obama imagined how society might change if men could become pregnant. Stone joked that abortions would be available from vending machines, while Obama imagined men receiving trophies for enduring labour without an epidural.

Stone added that maternity leave would likely come with a bonus if men experienced pregnancy.
