Actress Lily Collins has bid an emotional farewell to her beloved character Emily Cooper as the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris moves towards its final season.
On Friday, Collins took to Instagram to share a collection of behind-the-scenes photographs from the sets of the romantic comedy-drama. Alongside the pictures, she penned a heartfelt note reflecting on her journey with the character and the series.
“My last day on set as Emily… I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me,” Collins wrote.
Reflecting on her years as Emily, she said the character had remained an important part of her life and continued to surprise, inspire and challenge her throughout the series.
Collins also thanked creator Darren Star for imagining “this endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris” and for trusting her to bring Emily Cooper to life.
The actress expressed gratitude to the show’s crew, writers, directors and cast, describing them as family and crediting them with making the fictional world of Emily in Paris feel like home.
“Merci to all of you who have been supporting us over these past 7 years and 6 seasons, keeping us inspired to dream bigger along our epic adventure,” she added.
Calling the farewell “surreal and bittersweet”, Collins said she was ultimately filled with pride and gratitude for having played Emily and been part of a project that brought her so much joy.
“I will carry this chapter with me forever,” she wrote. “This has forever changed me. Au revoir, Emily Cooper.”
Created by Darren Star, who is also known for the iconic series Sex and the City, Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper, an ambitious American marketing executive who moves to Paris after taking up a position at a French luxury marketing firm.
