Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s youth have earned global recognition for their talent and skills, with the world placing growing expectations on the country’s innovators, entrepreneurs and young workforce.

Addressing the 20th Rozgar Mela, Modi distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth joining various government organisations. The new appointees participated in the programme from 45 locations across the country.

The recruits will take up positions in several Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, including the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Defence.

Congratulating the new appointees, the Prime Minister said they were joining the government at a time when India was working towards the goal of becoming a developed nation, or ‘Viksit Bharat’, by 2047.

He urged the recruits to ensure that their decisions and actions contribute to the country’s development and strengthen the vision of a developed and self-reliant India.

“Being the youth, you have an important responsibility towards fellow youngsters. Everyone can see that our youth’s talent and skills have won the world’s trust. The world has a lot of expectations from our innovators, entrepreneurs and our youth power,” Modi said.

Referring to the recently concluded BRICS Summit, the Prime Minister said India was working to ensure that BRICS cooperation extended beyond governments and involved entrepreneurs, farmers, women and youth.

He highlighted the launch of the BRICS Connect and BRICS MSME Cooperation portals as initiatives aimed at encouraging wider participation in the partnership.

Modi also said India had concluded Free Trade Agreements with around 40 countries in recent years, which he said would create new opportunities and open up markets and possibilities for the country’s youth.

He said the government had also taken steps to prepare young people for changing economic conditions through initiatives such as the National Education Policy, Skill India Mission and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

With the 20th Rozgar Mela, around 12.75 lakh young people will have received appointment letters in various government departments and organisations, according to the government.

The Rozgar Mela is part of the government’s continuing employment initiative aimed at expanding opportunities for young people and increasing their participation in the country’s development.
