Mohali (SAS Nagar), August 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday attended the inaugural performance of the acclaimed theatrical production ‘Hamare Ram’ in Mohali, marking the beginning of a statewide cultural programme under which the Punjab Government will organise 41 free shows across 12 cities during August and September.

Featuring renowned actor Ashutosh Rana in a powerful lead role, the theatre production aims to present the timeless message and values associated with Lord Sri Ram through the medium of performing arts.

Addressing the audience during the inaugural show, Chief Minister Mann said the initiative was aimed at promoting Punjab’s cultural heritage and spreading the values of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity.

He said the performances had been kept completely free for the public so that people from all sections of society could experience the play and draw inspiration from the ideals associated with Lord Sri Ram.

“The Punjab Government is organising 41 performances of the acclaimed production across 12 cities of the state during August and September to promote rich cultural heritage and traditional values,” Mann said.

The Chief Minister said the shows would be organised in Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Khanna.

Highlighting the contribution of actor Ashutosh Rana, Mann said his portrayal had added immense depth and strength to the production. He said the play offered audiences a fresh perspective on the Ramayana while remaining rooted in the spiritual essence of Valmiki’s epic.

Mann said the objective of the initiative was to connect the younger generation with India’s spiritual, cultural and moral traditions through an engaging theatrical experience.

“In today’s world, where social harmony and mutual respect face challenges, the teachings of Lord Sri Ram continue to guide humanity,” he said, adding that such programmes could strengthen communal harmony and social cohesion.

The Chief Minister also referred to previous cultural initiatives undertaken by his government, including ‘Ek Shaam Shiv Ke Naam’ programmes across Punjab and events dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj.

Welcoming the team of around 150 artists associated with the production, Mann said the participation of people from different faiths reflected Punjab’s spirit of unity and harmony.

Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond also addressed the gathering.
