Actor Saif Ali Khan has recalled a funny moment from the early days of his relationship with Kareena Kapoor Khan, revealing how the actress repeatedly dug her nails into him and asked him to stop during their first bike ride together while shooting for Tashan in Ladakh.
Saif shared the anecdote during an appearance on the quiz-based reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The episode also featured actor Akshay Kumar.
Recalling their initial equation on the sets of the 2008 film, Saif said he and Kareena were not speaking much beyond the courtesies exchanged between co-stars. Someone then suggested that he take her for a bike ride, as she was believed to enjoy motorcycles.
Saif had hired a bike during the Ladakh schedule and would often ride to the shooting location, enjoying the scenic mountain roads. When he invited Kareena to join him, she readily agreed, saying she loved bikes.
However, the ride turned out differently from what he had expected.
Saif said Kareena became frightened almost immediately, repeatedly digging her nails into him and asking him to stop or slow down. Despite his attempts to continue the ride, she kept protesting before eventually admitting that she hated bike rides.
“Then why are we on this bike?” Saif recalled asking her, adding that he began to suspect there was something more to their interaction. He said they seemed to like each other, even though Kareena clearly did not enjoy the ride.
The actor said their romance blossomed during the filming of Tashan, which also starred Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor. Saif and Kareena later shared screen space in films including Omkara, Kurbaan and Agent Vinod.
The couple married in October 2012 and have two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.
