Veteran actor Anupam Kher has shared a heartfelt birthday message for his son, actor Sikandar Kher, praising his growth as a performer and urging him to speak more openly about his work and achievements.
Taking to Instagram, Anupam posted an artist-created portrait of Sikandar and explained that he chose the picture partly because the two had run out of photographs together, adding that they should arrange a photoshoot soon.
He said he was proud of the actor Sikandar had become, describing his recent performances as natural and distinctive. Anupam added that his appreciation came not only as a father but also as someone with a lifetime of experience in acting.
The veteran actor then offered his son some career advice, telling him not to be hesitant about discussing his work and encouraging him to let audiences know when he delivers a good performance.
Anupam specifically referred to Sikandar’s performance in Prahaar, saying several people from the film industry had contacted him to obtain his son’s number so they could congratulate him.
He urged Sikandar to promote his work and encourage people to watch it, adding that the days of relying solely on the belief that “my work will speak for itself” were over.
In his message, Anupam said that in today’s entertainment industry, actors need to draw attention to good work themselves, and there was nothing wrong with doing so.
He also wished Sikandar happiness, good health and success, signing off with an assurance that he would always be cheering him on.
