New Delhi, October 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will release its first list of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on Saturday, October 31, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Friday.

The announcement came after a meeting of the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) held at the residence of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Mann said the party would announce its first list of candidates around 12 noon on Saturday, following a final meeting to decide the names.

The Chief Minister said AAP had conducted surveys across Assembly constituencies to assess public preferences and that the choice of the people would be given paramount importance while finalising candidates.

Mann said AAP had followed the practice of announcing its candidates well in advance in previous elections and would continue the same approach for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls.

He asserted that the party would approach voters on the strength of the work undertaken and development carried out by the AAP government in Punjab.

Responding to a question about a possible alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Mann dismissed its potential electoral impact with a mathematical analogy.

He remarked that zero remains zero whether it is added to, subtracted from, divided by or multiplied by another zero.

Taking a swipe at the possibility of political realignment, Mann said it would be interesting to see Union Home Minister Amit Shah sharing the stage with senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
