New Delhi, October 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Delhi Traffic Police has announced vehicle entry restrictions under the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which will come into force on November 1, 2026, advising motorists to check their vehicles’ eligibility before entering the national capital.

In an advisory issued on X, the traffic police said BS-VI-compliant, CNG and electric vehicles, along with vehicles covered by applicable exemptions, would be allowed entry, subject to the prescribed rules.

Restrictions will cover vehicles that do not meet BS-VI emission standards and those without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). Non-compliant interstate buses will also face entry curbs.

Trucks that are not destined for Delhi will be required to use peripheral expressways rather than pass through the city. The advisory also mentions restrictions on tractors, jugad vehicles and certain vehicles registered outside Delhi, wherever applicable.

Motorists have been asked to verify their vehicles’ eligibility and follow official traffic updates to avoid inconvenience. For assistance, the Delhi Traffic Police has provided helpline numbers 011-25844444 and 1095.

The revised measures come amid concerns over worsening air quality across Delhi-NCR and stepped-up enforcement of pollution-control regulations.

In a related enforcement action, Delhi Police registered three FIRs against commercial vehicle operators allegedly found using fake No Entry Permissions (NEPs) during a special drive at the city’s border points on October 27.

The operation was conducted by the Northern Range Traffic Police on the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal to check commercial vehicles and enforce traffic rules under Stage I of GRAP.

Police said three commercial vehicles were found allegedly using forged permissions. Three FIRs were subsequently registered at the respective police stations under Sections 318(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The action followed the Commission for Air Quality Management’s invocation of Stage I of GRAP from October 21, after Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to the ‘Poor’ category.
