India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first in the fourth T20 International against New Zealand at Eden Park on Friday, making two changes to the playing XI as the visitors look to extend their winning run.
Ishan Kishan, who has recovered from a low-grade right adductor strain, returned to the side in place of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Mayank Yadav came in for Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Kishan had missed the previous two matches because of the injury. Sooryavanshi, who scored 45 in the third T20I, was left out, while Bhuvneshwar made way for Mayank.
Explaining his decision at the toss, Iyer said India expected bounce and seam movement and wanted to continue with the approach adopted in the earlier matches. He also praised the team’s intent and execution, saying the players remained in high spirits and had been encouraged to maintain a ruthless approach.
New Zealand also made one change, bringing in Nathan Smith for Kyle Jamieson, who will miss the remainder of the series as part of workload management.
India have already secured an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and are now aiming for a clean sweep. Vice-captain Tilak Varma had described the fourth match as an opportunity to move closer to a 5-0 series victory and give Indian fans a chance to celebrate a whitewash.
