Actor Rahul Dev has paid an emotional tribute to his late brother Mukul Dev following the latter’s posthumous appearance in Udta Teer, saying the actor continues to be remembered for his memorable screen performances.
Rahul, accompanied by actor Mugdha Godse, recently attended a special screening of the romantic comedy and watched his brother on the big screen for what is expected to be his final film appearance. Rahul said Mukul had spoken fondly of the project and shared a close bond with its lead actor Ayushmann Khurrana and director Aakash Kaushik.
“Mukul never failed in mesmerising people with his on-screen performances. He is deeply missed,” Rahul said, adding that his brother’s final performance had received praise from colleagues, audiences and critics.
He also expressed the belief that Mukul was watching over his loved ones and would have enjoyed the appreciation surrounding the film.
Mugdha, who shared a close relationship with Mukul, described him as a brother and a good friend. She said watching him on screen brought happiness while also reminding her of his absence.
“He will continue to live with his work and countless memories that he’s created,” she said.
In Udta Teer, Mukul plays Azhar Maqsood, a pivotal character in the film, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film was released in theatres on October 23.
At the film’s trailer launch, Ayushmann also paid tribute to Mukul, describing him as one of India’s brightest talents. He called the film a tribute to the late actor and said audiences would see him for the last time in the project.
Mukul Dev died in New Delhi on May 23, 2025, at the age of 54, following a brief illness. He is survived by his daughter, Siya Dev, and his brother Rahul.
