Kochi, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

An Additional District Judge in Kerala, whose 17-year-old son was allegedly involved in a fatal road accident in Cheranalloor near Kochi, was questioned by police for around three hours on Wednesday. He has been asked to appear again on Thursday as the investigation continues.

The accident occurred at around 2.20 a.m. on October 25 on Container Road in Cheranalloor. Jayabalakrishnan, 55, was returning home after closing his roadside eatery when a Mercedes-Benz, allegedly driven by the judge’s minor son, collided with his scooter. He died at the spot, leaving behind his wife and three children.

The judge, who has been named as an accused in the case, was summoned to the Aluva Police Club at around 2.40 p.m. on Wednesday. He was allowed to leave after the questioning.

The case has attracted considerable attention because it involves the minor son of a serving judicial officer. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and the alleged roles of those involved.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the Kerala High Court’s Administrative Committee has decided against taking immediate action against the judge. The committee is expected to reconsider the matter after two days, based on the police investigation report.

The development follows a report by the High Court judge in charge of Thrissur district recommending the suspension of the Additional District Judge. However, the Administrative Committee decided that further action should await the findings of the police investigation.

The judge’s appearance for questioning on Thursday is expected to help investigators clarify the circumstances surrounding the accident and the allegations against him. Any further action against the judicial officer will depend on the findings placed before the relevant authorities.

In a related development, four police officials attached to the local police station that registered the case were suspended. Kochi City Police Commissioner was also transferred on Wednesday.
