Actor Kunal Kemmu once recalled feeling nervous when he first met Saif Ali Khan, as he was dating Saif’s sister, Soha Ali Khan. The anecdote resurfaced in a video from Soha’s podcast, where she asked her husband and brother to revisit their first meeting.
Saif remembered meeting Kunal but could not recall the exact location. Kunal, however, remembered that they had met over a game of pool at a friend’s house.
“We played three sets. I was hoping to beat you guys. I beat you in one game and we lost two,” Kunal recalled, adding that Saif had complimented his biceps. When Saif questioned whether he had actually said that, Soha jokingly asked if he had touched Kunal, prompting Saif to quip, “I do like touching him.”
Kunal also remembered Saif offering him advice when he was facing difficulties in his relationship with Soha. He said the conversation felt more like one between brothers than an interaction with his girlfriend’s elder brother.
Kunal recalled Saif comparing the relationship to a rollercoaster, telling him that since he had chosen to be on the ride, he could either get off or enjoy it.
Impressed by the advice, Kunal said he had wondered whether Saif was speaking from experience because he sounded like a pro.
Saif, meanwhile, described Kunal as a warm, funny and charming person who was a good storyteller.
Kunal admitted that he had been apprehensive about meeting the actor, whom he regarded as a superstar, while also dating his sister. He joked that he had hoped Saif would not beat him at pool.
The anecdote offers a glimpse into the easy rapport the two actors developed, with their relationship extending beyond the usual dynamic between a brother and his sister’s partner.
