New Delhi, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani faced criticism from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders and the right-wing organisation Hindu Yuva Vahini on Wednesday over his remarks that mosques facing demolition or threats would flourish again and the call of “Allahu Akbar” would once more resonate within them.

In a recent post on X, Madani said those currently in power would not remain in office forever. He asserted that governments come and go, but no power had succeeded in erasing Islam and none would be able to do so in the future.

Hindu Yuva Vahini Leader Responds

Hindu Yuva Vahini’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge Raghavendra Pratap Singh hit back at Madani, claiming that the establishment of “Ram Rajya” had begun under Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to IANS, Singh said India would become a Hindu Rashtra and its influence would extend worldwide. He also accused Madani of making such statements to remain politically relevant.

Referring to the Partition, Singh questioned why people who had remained in India despite the division on religious lines were making such remarks.

OP Rajbhar Accuses Clerics of Misleading Muslims

Uttar Pradesh Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief OP Rajbhar accused clerics, including Madani, of acting against the interests of Muslims.

Speaking to reporters, Rajbhar alleged that such religious leaders did not want Muslims to gain better access to education, healthcare and employment. He also accused them of mobilising Muslim voters for the Congress and Samajwadi Party while, according to him, using the BJP to create fear within the community.

Rajbhar further claimed that the share of Muslims in government jobs had declined significantly since Independence. He blamed religious leaders and previous political parties for the situation, though the figures he cited were not independently established in the statement.

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal described Madani’s remarks as “unfortunate”, alleging that they could disturb communal harmony.

Shia Board Leader Defends Madani

Meanwhile, All India Shia Personal Law Board General Secretary Maulana Yasoob Abbas defended Madani, arguing that the Constitution guarantees citizens the freedom to worship at places of their choice.

Abbas said demolishing or targeting religious sites was wrong, whether the sites were mosques, temples, gurdwaras or other places of worship. He described Hindus and Muslims as the country’s “two eyes” and said religious diversity was a source of national strength.

He also stressed that Muslims who stayed in India after Partition were entitled to religious freedom and the right to live according to the Constitution. If these rights were not recognised, he said, the Constitution itself would have to be changed.

The exchange highlights differing political and religious responses to Madani’s remarks, with critics raising concerns about communal harmony and supporters emphasising constitutional protections for religious freedom.
