New Delhi, October 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Preparations have gathered pace for the INDIA Bloc’s proposed November 1 rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan against alleged “vote theft”, purported irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the venue to review arrangements, including security, the stage and other logistical preparations. Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal and Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav have also inspected the site ahead of the rally.

Yadav said the Opposition alliance was expecting a turnout of nearly 10 lakh people from across the country, describing the gathering as potentially historic. He added that INDIA Bloc partners and allies were expected to participate in full strength.

Defending the choice of Ramlila Maidan, Yadav said its location and connectivity, including access to major roads and a railway station, would make it convenient for people travelling to the national capital. He reiterated the Congress’s demand that Jantar Mantar remain available for protests but said Ramlila Maidan was better suited to accommodate the anticipated crowd.

The proposed rally, however, has drawn objections from Delhi’s trading community over its timing.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has renewed its appeal to postpone the event until after Diwali, citing concerns about the impact of a large gathering in the capital around the festival.

CTI chairman Brijesh Goyal has written to Rahul Gandhi seeking a rescheduling of the rally and sent a copy of the letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, urging him to discuss the request with INDIA Bloc allies.

The rally is expected to bring together Opposition leaders and party workers from different parts of the country. The organisers’ estimate of nearly 10 lakh participants has not been independently confirmed.
