Actress Sai Pallavi has revealed that she approached the role of Maa Sita in the upcoming epic Ramayana with prayer, faith and a willingness to learn, rather than relying solely on her usual approach to acting.
Speaking on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Pallavi said portraying Sita made her reconsider how she prepares for a character. She appeared on the quiz show alongside co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi Dubey to discuss their experiences of working on the much-anticipated film.
Asked by Bachchan what went through their minds when they were offered their respective roles, Pallavi explained that her usual focus was on what she could bring to a character. Playing Sita, however, prompted her to consider what she could learn from the experience.
“This time, I did not want to use my mind too much,” she said, explaining that she wondered what knowledge and understanding she might gain by portraying Sita.
Pallavi added that she wanted to remain open and avoid imposing preconceived ideas on the character. Rather than overthinking the role, she chose to approach it through prayer and surrender.
“I simply prayed and said, ‘Mother, please let me play that role through me,’ and left it at that,” the actress said, describing her mindset while taking on the revered character.
Bachchan appreciated her perspective, telling Pallavi that she had made a very good point.
The actress’s comments offer a glimpse into the personal and spiritual approach she has taken towards portraying Sita in Ramayana, a cinematic adaptation of the revered Indian epic featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi Dubey in key roles.
