Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will undertake a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh on October 26 and 27, during which he will attend the Ruby Jubilee celebrations of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences and offer prayers at prominent temples in Tirupati.
According to an official statement, Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences in Vijayawada on October 26.
During the visit, he will also offer prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati and the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur.
The visit comes days after Radhakrishnan highlighted the need for legal reforms and stronger Centre-State coordination while inaugurating a conference on “Co-operative Federalism and Law Reforms: National and State Perspectives” in New Delhi.
Emphasising the concept of “Team India”, the Vice President said political differences should not come in the way of working together in the larger public interest. He underlined the importance of both cooperative and competitive federalism, calling for greater consultation, coordination and shared responsibility between the Centre and the states.
Radhakrishnan said the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047 would require sound laws, transparent institutions, efficient administration and access to justice.
He cited the replacement of three colonial-era criminal laws and repeal of more than 1,700 obsolete laws over the past 12 years as significant steps towards modernising India’s legal framework.
He also called for State Law Commissions to identify outdated laws for amendment or repeal and urged closer coordination among the Law Commission of India, State Law Commissions and State Law Departments.
The Vice President stressed that cooperative federalism in legal reforms does not mean uniformity, and said states must retain the space to address their specific needs while working with the Centre on matters involving shared constitutional responsibilities.
