Chennai, October 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Greater Chennai Police have issued Look Out Circulars (LOCs) against five suspects as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) widens its investigation into sexual offence cases registered against Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani and his associates.

The circulars are intended to prevent the suspects from leaving India and enable immigration authorities to intercept them at airports, seaports and designated land crossings. Investigators suspect the five may possess documents or information relevant to the alleged offences.

According to police sources, their possible links to the cases emerged during the ongoing inquiry into Veeramani and others. The restrictions are intended to ensure their availability as investigators examine the allegations.

The SIT has so far registered eight cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Veeramani and others. A separate case relates to the alleged abetment of a minor girl’s suicide in 2004. Police said eight accused had been arrested in connection with the investigation and lodged in Puzhal Central Prison.

In a related development, Veeramani’s daughter, Archana Veeramani, was allowed to return home after being hospitalised for an ailment. SIT personnel had detained her at Chennai International Airport on Friday as she was preparing to travel abroad.

In a statement, the SIT said it had questioned Archana about her father’s alleged criminal activities and financial transactions suspected of being undertaken to evade police action.

Police have also registered another POCSO case following a complaint by a woman who alleged that Veeramani had sexually abused her. His associate Shanti and another person, identified as Lazar, were also named in the case.

The SIT plans to seek custody of Veeramani, Shanti and her husband, Mahendra Simhan, for further interrogation. Investigators intend to question them about evidence collected and seized during the probe.

The team said it aimed to complete the investigation and file chargesheets before the designated court.

The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
