The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Faridabad, has arrested two police constables posted with Dial-112 for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 in Palwal. Constable Harish was caught red-handed while accepting the money, while Constable Deepak was also arrested after questioning at the spot.
According to the complainant, a dispute with family members on September 28, 2026, prompted him to leave home. His family subsequently informed Dial-112. While returning home on an Activa scooter belonging to a friend, he allegedly panicked upon seeing a Dial-112 patrol team and left the scooter behind after its tyre was punctured.
On September 30, Constable Deepak called the complainant to meet him, where he and Constable Harish allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to release the scooter, which they said was in police custody. Following negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 9,000.
Acting on the complaint and after completing verification, the ACB laid a trap on October 1 near an under-construction house behind Vande Mataram School in Palwal. Harish was arrested while allegedly accepting the bribe, and the entire amount was recovered. Deepak, who was present at the location, was subsequently arrested after questioning.
The operation was led by Inspector Rajkumar, in-charge of the ACB’s Palwal sub-centre, in the presence of a gazetted officer, Abhishek, Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer (Excise), Palwal, along with witnesses.
A case has been registered against both accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the ACB police station in Faridabad. The FIR, numbered 22, was registered on October 1, 2026. The bureau said procedures under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, were followed during the operation. Further investigation is underway.
