Alia Bhatt looks forward to celebrating global changemakers at Earthshot Prize

Actress Alia Bhatt is looking forward to celebrating people and organisations developing innovative solutions to environmental challenges at The Earthshot Prize ceremony in Mumbai.

Speaking about being part of the event, Alia described the Earthshot Prize as a celebration of hope backed by ideas and action, and said it was inspiring to see people around the world finding new ways to protect and restore the planet.

“The Earthshot Prize is really about hope… but hope that comes with ideas, action and people who are finding new ways forward. That’s what makes it so inspiring to be a part of,” Alia said in a statement.

“There are people across the world doing incredible work to protect and repair our planet, often in ways we may never have imagined,” she added.

The actress said bringing these changemakers together in Mumbai made the occasion particularly meaningful.

“And to have Mumbai bring all these people together feels very special. I’m proud that India gets to be part of this moment, and I’m really looking forward to celebrating the people behind these solutions and the work they’re doing for all of us,” she said.

Alia will present one of the five Earthshot Prize awards at the ceremony, which is expected to bring together around 5,000 guests to recognise people and organisations working on solutions to major environmental challenges.

She will be joined by Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and British actress and musician Simone Ashley, among other presenters and special guests. Filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar will host the ceremony.

The 2026 awards night will also be streamed globally on Prime Video for the first time, allowing audiences across more than 240 countries and territories to watch the event in over 40 languages.

The Earthshot Prize was launched by Prince William in 2020. It recognises and supports people and organisations working on innovative solutions to environmental problems and efforts to protect the planet.
