India’s medal campaign at the Asian Games 2026 will gather further momentum on Sunday, September 20, with several athletes and teams set to compete across cricket, hockey, shooting, teqball, table tennis, badminton and wushu.
The Indian contingent has already been in action since Thursday, with teqball providing early medal opportunities. Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza and Mohamed Anas Imran Beg will compete in the mixed doubles bronze-medal match against Vietnam’s Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen and Gia Nghi Trinh. The Indian pair will face the same opponents they lost to in the quarter-finals.
Quimcy will also have another opportunity to win a medal in the women’s singles bronze-medal match, where she will face Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto.
In women’s cricket, India will take on Bangladesh in the second semifinal. The Indian team will be looking to defend the gold medal it won at the 2023 Asian Games.
Shooting will also be closely watched, with Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod competing in the women’s 10m air rifle events.
India’s hockey campaign will begin on Sunday, with both teams playing their opening matches. The women’s team will face Uzbekistan in Pool B, while the men’s team will take on Indonesia in Pool A.
India will also feature in table tennis, badminton and wushu events throughout the day.
