BJP Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha made a late-night visit to Amritsar’s popular Giani Tea Stall, where he enjoyed traditional Amritsari tea and interacted with locals, discussing the political situation in Punjab.
Chadha shared photographs of his visit on X on Saturday and said he reached the tea stall after completing his day’s schedule.
“After wrapping up the day’s schedule, I reached the famous Giani Tea Stall in Amritsar. Amid sips of tea, discussions on Punjab’s politics stretched late into the night with folks around,” he wrote.
He also shared a light-hearted message about his fondness for tea: “Nahse mei naash hai, chai mei vishwas hai. Kuch logo mei bhram hai, lekin chai mei dum hai.”
The visit came a day after Chadha joined BJP National President Nitin Nabin in Pathankot for the flag-off of the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’. Chadha said he had met families affected by drug abuse and highlighted what he described as the human cost of the drug crisis.
“Drugs don’t just destroy lives. They destroy families,” Chadha said.
Chadha also alleged that the Punjab government had failed to fulfil its promise of eliminating the drug menace. He claimed that the problem had increased over the past four-and-a-half years and alleged that the supply of narcotics, particularly “chitta”, had expanded across the state.
The ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ was launched from Pathankot on September 18 and is part of the BJP’s statewide campaign on the issue of drug abuse. The campaign is planned to cover all 117 Assembly constituencies before culminating in Jalandhar on September 30.
