The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that 52 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured in 28 operations carried out across different parts of Balochistan between September 1 and 7.
In a statement, the banned militant group claimed that its operations targeted Pakistani security forces and caused casualties as well as damage to infrastructure across the province.
The BLA also claimed that its fighters captured several checkpoints and vehicles belonging to Pakistani security forces and seized weapons and military equipment.
According to the statement, BLA fighters shot dead Rehmat Saeed in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji area on September 7, alleging that he was an “agent” of Pakistani Military Intelligence (MI). The group claimed that its intelligence wing, ZIRAB, had been monitoring him.
“Collaborator Rehmat carried out espionage for the occupying army and accompanied them during regional aggressions,” the BLA said.
The group further claimed that one security personnel was killed in a sniper attack on the main Pakistani Army camp at Albat in Kharan on September 7. It said the camp was subsequently targeted with mortar shells, causing further casualties and material damage.
On the Quetta-Karachi highway at Garari and Mahalbi in Kalat, the BLA claimed that its fighters targeted vehicles associated with the Saindak project and a Pakistani Army convoy, causing heavy losses.
The group also said its fighters used explosives to destroy a rest house used by the Pakistani Army in the Kotro area of Jhal Magsi on September 6.
On the same day, the BLA claimed an attack on an airport site used by the Pakistani Army at Ghazaband, near Killa Abdullah. It said computers and other equipment were destroyed and the remaining structure was set on fire.
The BLA’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) reportedly carried out a remote-controlled blast targeting a Pakistani Army convoy on September 3. The group claimed an explosive-laden vehicle completely destroyed an Army vehicle and killed seven personnel.
A day earlier, in Garo in the Khadkoocha area of Mastung, the group claimed its fighters destroyed an armoured Pakistani Army vehicle in an IED blast before ambushing the convoy. It said four personnel were killed and more than seven others injured in the subsequent clash.
In the Took region of Kalat, the BLA also claimed an armed attack on a Pakistani Army convoy, saying it inflicted “heavy human and material losses on the enemy.”
The BLA has previously vowed to continue its armed campaign against Pakistani forces until what it describes as the “goal of national liberation” of Balochistan is achieved.
