Jharkhand Students Continue Protest, Demand JPSC-JSSC Reforms and Accountability

Ranchi, August 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The agitation by students in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) continued for the 20th day on Thursday, with protesters insisting that the movement will continue until their demands are addressed.

Students said their primary demand is not limited to cancellation of examinations but includes comprehensive reforms in the recruitment process and accountability for those allegedly responsible for irregularities. They urged the state government to address their concerns with seriousness and ensure a fair and transparent recruitment system.

One protester said cancelling an examination without investigating alleged wrongdoing would allow those responsible to escape accountability.

Another student said the government must fulfil the demand for cancellation of the CGL examination, introduce recruitment reforms and fix responsibility so that aspirants do not have to repeatedly protest for their rights.

Several protesters also claimed that students participating in the agitation had suffered health problems, with some hunger strikers requiring hospitalisation. Despite these difficulties, they said they would remain at the protest site until their demands were met.

Student leader Ravindra said protesters had met the SSP on Wednesday but were not informed about FIRs allegedly being registered against students. He urged the administration to distinguish between genuine protesters and any individuals who may have attempted to disrupt the movement.

Ravindra said around 50,000 students had participated in the protest and argued that if a small number of people were found to be involved in anti-social activities, action should be restricted to them rather than being used to harass the broader student community.

The students have maintained that reforms, examination integrity and accountability are essential to restore confidence among job aspirants in the state’s recruitment system.
