Srinagar Police have attached immovable property worth around Rs 4 crore belonging to an alleged drug trafficker in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district as part of an ongoing crackdown on the narcotics trade.
According to a police statement, the action was taken by Police Station Khanyar in connection with FIR No. 04/2026, registered under Sections 8 and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The property belongs to Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hussain Dar and a resident of Ichgam in Budgam, police said.
The attached assets include a two-storey residential house with an attic and 5 kanals and 17 marlas of land at Ichgam. The land is recorded under Khasra numbers 415/416. Police estimated the total market value of the property at around Rs 4 crore.
The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after the property was allegedly identified as having been acquired from proceeds of drug trafficking.
Police said the action was aimed at disrupting the financial infrastructure supporting the illegal narcotics trade and depriving traffickers of assets allegedly generated through their activities.
“Srinagar Police remains committed to making the city drug-free and will continue strict action against traffickers, their associates and properties linked to narcotics,” officials said.
The action forms part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader anti-drug campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiya. Police have said they are pursuing a multi-pronged strategy that includes arrests under the NDPS Act, preventive detention of repeat offenders under the PIT-NDPS and Public Safety Acts, and attachment or freezing of properties allegedly acquired through drug proceeds.
Authorities have also been targeting residential and commercial properties allegedly linked to narcotics networks, while taking action against structures used as hideouts or for illegal activities.
Police have reported arrests of local and interstate drug traffickers and seizures of substances including heroin, brown sugar, charas and psychotropic drugs as part of the continuing campaign.
