The team of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited mythological drama ‘Ramayana’ began its promotional campaign with a special event in Mumbai on Saturday, where actor Ranbir Kapoor lifted a Shiv Dhanush after offering prayers.
One of the highlights of the event saw Ranbir, who plays Lord Rama in the film, fold his hands and pray before lifting the bow and subsequently placing it back. YouTuber MrBeast was also among those present at the event.
Members of the film’s core team, including Sai Pallavi, who plays Goddess Sita, Ravi Dubey and producer Namit Malhotra, attended the gathering.
The event, however, was delayed by around four hours, following which several members of the media reportedly chose to boycott it.
‘Ramayana’ is being planned as a two-part franchise. Ranbir stars as Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita and Yash plays Ravana in the film. Sunny Deol will be seen as Lord Hanuman, with Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra and Adinath Kothare as Bharat.
The first part is expected to release on November 9 this year around Diwali, while the second instalment, which remains in production, is scheduled for release in 2027. The film is also planned for release in major Indian languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
Meanwhile, Ranbir is also set to appear alongside wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’.
The makers unveiled Ranbir’s first-look poster from the film on September 24, showing him in a rugged avatar with a blood-stained sleeve and a bullet mark on his shirt. ‘Love & War’ is scheduled to release on January 21, 2027.
